Today is the solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. "Only the Heart of Christ who knows the depths of his Father's love could reveal to us the abyss of his mercy in so simple and beautiful a way" (CCC 1439). The heart is seen as the core of the person. It has a depth, a place of beauty and love, a place where the miraculous takes place. From Jesus' heart, we can unite ourselves, as St Marguerite Marie Alacoque experienced, to His divine love. St Marguerite was the one who furthered the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the apparitions of the Lord to her.
We can, from that which overflows from Christ's heart, place all our hope, our life, and our existence. St. Irenaeus of Lyons said, “The Church is the fountain of the living water that flows to us from the Heart of Christ”. If we, as Catholic Voices, are to 'tell the Church's story', surely we must start from it's source: the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
