CHURCH CLOSURE

Sunday 10th January
A decision has been made to close St Augustine's church for public Mass with immediate effect.
Myself, Fr Jim and the Dean of our area, Fr Gregory Grant, have discussed the situation this weekend and decided that, for the added safety of the priests, deacons, staff, volunteers and parishioners, our churches will close whilst the virus is so prevalent. We will review the situation each couple of weeks and in line with government guidelines.
As it stands at present, Churches are being allowed to make their own decision about remaining open, although in areas where the transmission rates are very high they have already been instructed to close by the Government.
Whilst we are closed, please continue to join Masses online, use the many home resources available for prayer and reflection and please pray for an end to this pandemic and for all the people working on the front line who are most at risk.
I will continue to say Mass every day privately and will pray for all the Mass intentions that have been requested.
Please keep an eye on our website/facebook page for regular news, reflections and updates. As soon as we feel confident to offer Holy Mass once more we will let everyone know.
God Bless you all
Fr Frank
