This week's news

Happy Birthday Fr Frank! We surprised him with a Birthday cake (well... a Birthday Lemon Meringue Pie) after Mass.

Climate talks
Our film mornings have covered the seriousness of the state of our common home, this beautiful planet, and a dynamic analysis of Catholic Social Teaching based on conversion to love and personal relationship with Jesus. How can we fail then to care for all our brothers and sisters?
Next Saturday (8th) come to find out real ways to be moved to conversion and to make a difference and plan ways forward.
All are welcome to the parish hall at 10am for a genuinely useful gathering with a cuppa.

Craft Day
Come to the Parish Hall this Wednesday (5th) anytime from 10.30 until 4.30pm for refreshments and a chance to pick up some beautiful home made gifts, at Petra's now legendary annual 'Craft Day'!
All are welcome to come along for shopping, chatting and company - All for a good cause.
All money raised will go to the Parish Projects.

SIP N PAINT FUN!
On Sunday, 2nd November at 7pm, approximately forty parishioners, prospective painters all, arrived at the Parish Hall for a "Sip & Paint" evening.
Prosecco, wine and a variety of soft drinks were served and sipped, while everyone prepared to tackle The Great Wave off Kanagawa by the Japanese artist, Hokusai.
Before that, however, each participant was assigned the name of a famous painter, taken from a list of the creators of the world's most famous, fifty paintings, all posted around the walls of the Parish Hall. The challenge was to connect the painter to the painting.
And later, to be photographed holding your own painting next to your assigned work of art.
Guided by the lovely Catherine from 'Art Parties With Catherine Williams' who very generously ran the evening for us at cost price, all in attendance concentrated hard for a full two hours, sweating waves as they worked, until finally this Great British Paint Off came to a close.
A few raffle prizes, a few words of thanks, a few words about our Parish Projects, and an excellent evening over.
Move over, Monet, push off, Picasso, the artists of St Augustine's are after your crowns!

BOOKING MASS INTENTIONS - an update for 2026.
We have more intentions than we can manage, which in one way is a good thing. But at present you’d have to wait until the new year to book a Mass.
On an average week, 3 out of the 5 Masses are already pencilled out in advance meaning it is hard to get a Mass in the event of needed prayers when something happens.
I belong to a Priests support group with retired Priests who would feel useful if they were offering Mass for people. An option would be for you to give your Mass to them & we can still call out the names of those you wish prayed for in the bidding prayers of your chosen Mass. Let us know when booking a Mass in the office.
So, from now on Bernadette will stop contacting you to ask if you want an anniversary Mass &, if you don’t mind, we will pass the ownness back to you.
Thank you. Fr Barnabas.
